Connected Collection

An abstract landscape illustrating the connection between the sky, the sun, the soil, and the water that sustains life. Our lives.

All of nature is connected and we are connected to nature.

The sky - our atmosphere, the air we breathe, the same air that plants and animals and all other living things breathe.

A space we share. A precious resource we all rely on equally.

The sun gives us everything from life and growth to energy and good moods. How often do we stop and think, “What luck that we are just the right distance from this life-giving star”?

The sun is touching the sea at every sunrise and set. Our oceans, rivers, and tiniest streams hold vital components to our survival.

What grows from the land is most of what we see day to day, or at least think of when we think about “land”. But, in reality, this growth comes from layers of life below the surface in connection with all that is above. Without this complete connection, we would have no flowers, no food, no life.

Beneath the topsoil is some of the least understood life we have on this planet. In one teaspoon of soil lives one billion individual microbes. All working together to create the building blocks of life on earth. The way we treat the soil matters. The relationship we have with the soil matters.

Grounding the painting at the bottom, within the depths of soil, are water tables. Invisible to us, yet we heavily rely on them for clean drinking water.

The Connected Collection paintings are my creative expression to bring awareness to the components of life, and to express gratitude for each.

From awareness and gratitude, I hope to then connect humans to the idea of having a more reciprocal relationship with the earth and taking better care of the places we call home.
