Welcome

My name is Krystle Stevenson - artist, mother, wife, gardener, and so much more. Scroll down and get to know me better…

Artist Bio

Krystle Stevenson (b. 1984) was always drawn to the creative life, making art in stolen moments, but took a winding path to pursue it professionally. A path that started out with an MSA from the University of Connecticut School of Business, and eventually found its way toward curiosity, exploration, and light. She dedicated herself to creating fine art full time in 2020 and has been cultivating her studio art practice since.

She lives and works in Connecticut with her husband, three sons, and one very affectionate rescue dog. She is deeply connected to and inspired by the land she lives on. She grows native pollinator and vegetable gardens, and grows several types of seasonal New England fruits. She hopes to pass on her connection to nature through her fine art pieces.

Artist Statement

My work is inspired by nature as I experience it with all of my senses. The natural world is enchanting and wonder-filled. With acrylic and watercolor, I translate these feelings into fine art. Each painting is an expression of the energy and vibrancy found in the land, sea, sky, and flora that surround us.

My art practice is based on exploration, curiosity, and finding a meditative flow state that allows art to pass through me onto the page. I have learned to let my intuition guide me - the way my body moves, the marks I make, the colors I choose. In this way, my work blends into play.

When you first see my paintings, they’re meant to evoke a sense of lightness, wonder, and hope. My aim is to encourage viewers to return and engage in conversations—whether with others or through self-reflection—about our interdependencies with nature and each other.

Belief

My mission is simple: to authentically create art that sparks joy.

I create joyful pieces that fuse modern minimalism with organic marks. My work is tailored to thoughtful individuals who seek beauty with meaning—art that transforms their spaces and invites curiosity, joy, and lightness.

Background

I am an abstract painter based in Connecticut (northeastern US). I create abstract energetic paintings with acrylic and watercolor paints. My work is inspired by nature as I see it. Each painting is a celebration of the energy and vibrancy found in the land, sea, sky, flora, and fauna that surround us. I am largely a self-taught artist with a dedicated creative practice. My formal education is primarily in Finance. While it wasn’t the best career path for me, it was invaluable when setting up and running my business. I have been operating my art business since 2020.

Beginning

In 2016, I was deep in spreadsheets and corporate routines, convinced that balancing a competitive finance career and motherhood was the best life I could hope for. What followed wasn’t a clear path but a slow unraveling and rebuilding. After my third son was born, postpartum depression and anxiety hit hard. I reached out for help and, slowly, found my footing. I began creating space for myself - for healing, exploration, and entrepreneurship - and this is where my creative practice began to blossom.

Breakthrough

My creative practice was built slowly and steadily. Eventually, I felt a shift from purely therapeutic relief to wanting to bring my joy further out into the world. Over the course of four years I found my artistic style, built a creative practice that I crave like a runner craves a run, set up sustainable business systems, and connected with a community of emerging artists and small business mentors. Things really started clicking into place.

Present

Today, as a full-time artist, I feel lit up from within when I create. My art is my therapy, my joy, and my way of sharing beauty in a world that so often feels heavy. Every time someone falls in love with one of my pieces, I’m reminded of how lucky I am to have found this path—not the one I planned, but the one I was meant for.
